Take a pet to go abroad, only oneself experienced, just know how troublesome. A bunch of questions do not know where to find answers, such as: isolation, what documents need to be prepared? How to ensure the safety of pets? What airline can travel? Chinese mainland pets abroad information is quite limited, after all, pets are not widely abroad, and know less complete rules and procedures. Let's share some experience of taking pets abroad.
When leaving the country, please take the pet to the place designated by the local inspection and quarantine institution at least one week in advance.
Step 1:
Necessary information for quarantine inspection:
(1) Rabies immunization certificate issued by animal husbandry and veterinary station above county level or designated pet hospital (the period from the date of rabies vaccination to the starting date shall not exceed 30 days);
(2) Original pet health certificate;
(3) Disinfection certificate of transportation equipment (air box or self-made animal cage disinfection certificate);
(4) Completed inspection application form. After passing the inspection, the inspection and quarantine organ will issue animal health certificate.
Step 2:
Buy an air box for pets, call the airline 3 days in advance to book a flight with yourself. By the way, go to the civil aviation cargo terminal to find out where the quarantine certificate needs to be submitted (usually there is an agent office near the airport, so you can get the certificate with money, without injection).
The pet should be sent to the airport cargo terminal 3 hours in advance to handle the formalities, pay the fees and buy insurance. Note: do not let the pet through the X-ray machine, only through the box.
Then go to the pick-up center at the destination to pick up the pet with identification.
Requirements for air cages:
Generally speaking, the cage is required to be of reinforced structure. The chassis and the surrounding areas should be enclosed with iron sheet. Only the upper part is allowed to be used as vent, and the hemp bag or cotton mat should be used to tie the bottom of the chassis. The purpose is to prevent the leakage of urine and urine from polluting other goods. The two sides of the cage need to have loop hands (which can be made of lead wire) for extraction, and the opening of the cage should be tied with lead wire.
Note: pets should be vaccinated before long-distance travel. Fix the water dispenser in the air cage. The bigger the better, the pet will be thirsty during the journey. In winter, keep warm clothes on your pets to prevent them from freezing.
Tips: it is recommended to take a flight from a foreign airline or Northwest Airlines of China. They will be very concerned about your pet. The plane has set up a "pet priority service" to allow them to travel safely and comfortably. Northwest Airlines offers a variety of ways to carry animals: luggage, cargo and "very important package". If the size of passenger's dog, pet or bird is small, it can be put into the pet cage which can be placed under the passenger's seat. Northwest Airlines allows these pets into the cabin.
There are different charges for various pet carrying services. Please contact the airline reservation group of your selected airline to inquire about the fare and arrange services for your pet.
Entry
In order to reduce the spread of disease as much as possible, the governments of all countries strictly control the imported animals, especially those countries that have eliminated rabies, such as Britain, Australia and New Zealand, have very strict quarantine regulations. Ignoring these quarantine procedures will result in heavy penalties, return and even destruction. Therefore, any attempt to smuggle pets into other countries in violation of the regulations is extremely irresponsible.
General requirements:
1. Necessary procedures for exit
If you want to take your pet abroad, you must leave plenty of time to process the required certification materials. First of all, apply for inspection at the animal and plant quarantine office at the port of departure before leaving the country, and provide relevant certificates (such as vaccination certificate, etc.). The animal health certificate issued by the port animal and plant quarantine office shall be used as the quarantine certificate for the pet to leave the customs and enter the other country. Then, contact the Embassy of the other country to verify the exact requirements of that country. It is necessary to ask the veterinarian to check the pet before leaving the country. It is very important to inject rabies vaccine into the pet.
2. Transportation
When you leave the country by air, you should contact the flight you are taking to understand the special requirements and management rules in this respect. It's easy to travel with your pet on the same flight. According to the requirements of the flight, the pet should be put in a box of the specified size. The owner should contact the freight Department of the flight to find out the exact diameter (including the position of the air hole on the box).
National and Hong Kong norms:
1. Necessary procedures for entering Britain and Ireland
All pets must be fully quarantined in an approved quarantine area for 6 months. If they have not been vaccinated against rabies, they must be vaccinated against rabies as soon as they enter the quarantine area. All pets entering the UK and Ireland must apply for an entry permit in advance, which is issued by the Department of agriculture. No matter how short their pets left the UK, a Briton living abroad still has to go through the specified quarantine time and have other necessary procedures implemented at that time.
2. Necessary procedures for entering the European continent
Compared with Britain and Ireland, the procedures required for pets to enter European countries are relatively simple, mainly including the following:
(1) Health certificate. Only health certificates issued within 48 hours before departure are valid. The certificate is issued by the veterinarian, which indicates that (the veterinarian must be an agent recognized by the relevant department responsible for issuing the exit certificate) the pet is free from any infectious diseases, bacterial diseases and rabies.
(2) Immune injection syndrome of rabies. It should be mentioned here that pets who have lived in a country where rabies has been eradicated (such as Britain, Ireland, Australia, etc.) for six months before entering other countries can not have this certificate. However, in order to protect the pet and make sure that the pet meets the quarantine requirements when arriving at the destination, it is better to let the pet be vaccinated against rabies.
(3) Exit certificate. Get a valid exit certificate from the relevant department of registered pet in the country. The certificate should state that there is no epidemic of infectious diseases in the pet's residence in the past two years. According to the law, infectious diseases should be reported to the relevant departments of the country. The exit certificate is issued by the competent department of the country where he / she is located. If it meets the requirements, the certificate will be stamped with an approved seal as soon as he / she sets foot in the country where he / she wants to live abroad.
3. Necessary procedures for entering Australia
All pets entering Australia must comply with quarantine regulations and obtain an entry permit from Australia in advance. Except for pets from New Zealand and the coconut islands, pets from other countries should be quarantined for different periods: pets from the UK or the Republic of Ireland should be quarantined for two months; pets from Norway, Sweden or Hawaii should be quarantined for 4 months; pets from other countries allowed to enter the country should be quarantined for 9 months; pets from countries without entry permission must be quarantined Live in a country with an entry permit (usually the United Kingdom or Hawaii) for 30 days, and then bring your pet into Australia according to the procedures required to enter Australia from that country.
4. Necessary procedures for entering the United States and Canada
The same as the entry of pets into Europe, the entry certificate is required. At present, pets entering the United States do not need to be quarantined for observation, but must provide a health certificate issued within 10 days, and must focus on the quarantine of rabies and other major pet diseases. Translation of the required health certificate is not required by law (e.g. Spanish or French health certificate), but having a translation reduces delays due to language barriers.
