How to choose chinchilla? How to keep a chinchilla

How to choose a baby chinchilla

To select a healthy kitten, a healthy kitten should have the following conditions:

1) Jump around at night and walk around (it's normal to sleep in a corner during the day).

2) The area around the eyes is clean and there is no obvious eye droppings.

3) A rhinorrhea is a cold.

4) The excreta should be fine, hard and odorless (brown green).

5) Healthy teeth are orange (not white).

Have a baby or a girl?

In terms of character or appearance, there is no difference between the young and the female. If you're only going to have one, it's not very different between the baby and the girl. But the baby is more popular, the female is usually reserved for breeding, so its price is relatively high. But if you plan to raise a couple, you'd better have a son and a girl. Two girls can get along well, but most of them will fight with each other. Be careful!

Can you keep it with other animals?

Chinchilla is an animal that sleeps during the day and is active in the dark at night. So the biggest problem with raising chinchilla with other animals is to isolate them from harassment. For example:

1) Birds

It will be very noisy during the day, so that the kittens can't sleep.

2) Dogs

The barking of a dog will frighten the kittens.

3) Cats

The cat's curiosity is so strong that the kitten can't stand their playing. Although many members have other animals and come back to tell us that his dog can get along well with the kitten (even afraid of the kitten), he should keep the kitten away from them at ordinary times. When playing together, he should also take care of it, because the cat and dog are very jealous, so don't let them live alone!

Can other small animals, such as golden hamsters, white mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, live in the same cage with kittens! The main problem is food. Because different animals need different nutrition, they should be fed separately. Small animals active in the daytime, such as chinchillas, are not likely to fight with each other because of their different habits, but they can also disturb the sleeping of chinchillas.

Rabbit is not a big problem, but sometimes the male rabbit will be more aggressive, so it will have an impact. Remember, snakes and lizards are the enemies of chinchillas! Don't let them meet, because the kittens have no other weapons except to leave. Sometimes even some of the nylon clothing friction and "always" sound, may also make the kitten very nervous.

4) Sleeping room

Find a box about 6x6x8 (it can be made of wood, plastic or porcelain) and put it at the top of the cage. Other boxes made of paper will soon be bitten off by it, and it won't last long.

5) Branches

If the cage is large, put a bunch of branches in the cage and let them walk on it. For example, branches of beech, willow and pine can also be used. If it is picked up, it is best to boil it with boiling water, and then put it into the oven for half an hour for disinfection.

6) Wood chaff pad

Although the faeces of the baby chinchilla are fine and odorless, their urine has an odor, which needs something to absorb. Pine tree chaff (pine bedding) is the most suitable. In addition to being able to absorb the smell, even the hair falling from the bottom of the cage or the cold powder will adhere to it. It can be changed only once or twice a week (depending on the degree of personal hygiene). Newspapers can not absorb the smell of urine, but also need to be replaced every day, and those inks are not good for the chinchilla to eat.

7) Molars

Chinchilla's teeth will continue to grow. They need to bite to make their teeth short in order to be healthy. It's necessary to put a mineral containing molar or wood for them to bite.
